Then, once you have those coding skills, move on to the more specialized and advanced course content. We did background research, looking at courses that offer lessons in Python code. Here are five of the best online Python course options you can take right now, based on our findings.

No previous programming experience is required for this Python course, which makes it a good choice for beginners to Python programming. Jack Donaldson is a game designer and programmer who will teach you the basic concepts and fundamentals of the Python programming language. You will need a laptop or desktop computer to get started Install Python And PyCharm, an integrated development environment used to help build software applications. Both are free to download.
Donaldson first takes you through the introductory course topics and training basics of Python such as variables, data types, state statements, and manipulating strings and scripts. It also covers more complex Python code topics such as loops and functions. In the class description video, Donaldson says that his online Python course is very much “work”-based — expect plenty of projects and tutorials to help you build a foundation in Python skills.
Cost: Some online classes on Skillshare are free when you create an account, but most require a premium membership, which costs $99 annually or $19 per month. The Programming for Everybody: Getting Started with Python course, offered on Coursera through the University of Michigan, explores the basics of the Python programming language, writing your first program and using variables and basic programming tools.
The Programming Foundations course is part of the five-course Python for Everybody specialization. You can enroll in one Python class to get started, get a Python certification, or review a class and review materials for free.
The Python for Everybody major is an entry-level major and if you sign up for one Python course, you will be included in the entire major. According to Coursera, the first two online Python courses offer Python basics tutorials aimed at those with no programming experience.
This online Python course can be downloaded for free and requires a laptop or desktop computer to learn Python coding skills.
Cost: Coursera works more like a traditional online college course with enrollment windows. Sometimes the certifications you earn can apply as credit in an organization, but they should be mentioned. When you sign up for Coursera, you get a seven-day free trial and then it costs $49 a month. You can also choose to audit the class for free, which allows you to read and view only the course content of the Python program.

This Udemy course from a professional software developer aims to provide complete programming beginners with an understanding of the basics of Python through 363 short lectures. You’ll learn Python programming skills that can be applied to specific branches such as machine learning and data science as well as other Python-centric programming jobs.
The course mainly focuses on Python 3 (the latest version is v3.8), but you will also learn how to work with Python 2. You can View and download active Python versions On the main Python website. As you learn more about the programming language, you can read about the changes that have been committed in the change logs.
Cost: Prices for Udemy courses are set by individual instructors from the price tier, unless they choose to offer them for free. At $110, this course is steeper than most of the others listed, but it has a lot to offer – and we’ve seen it on sale for as low as $25.

The 90-Minute Python lesson on Skillshare is a crash course in coding if you’re pressed for time or need a refresher. The instructor efficiently packages the essentials of Python into 25 lessons along with additional materials, reviews, and practice sheets. This Python course is aimed at beginners and will teach you the basics. Like the others, you will need a laptop or desktop to work on.

This Python course from Texas A&M University professor John Keysor starts with the basics and course content delves into the Python language over the course of 24 lessons. Each lesson takes about 30 minutes and builds on the last lesson to show you the practical applications of Python. In the course description, Keysor notes such applications as coding for games and graphics, analyzing sports stats, simulating pension funds and basic robots.
Cost: Great Courses does not have a fixed subscription fee like Skillshare. A Keysor course costs $235 online (or $270 on DVD), though we’ve seen them on sale for as low as $50.
When you create an Awesome Courses account, you can stream your course for free with the trial version of The Fantastic Courses Plus. The content can then be accessed via the iOS or Android app, or on your TV via the Roku app, Chromecast, Amazon Fire TV, and Apple TV.
