Face ID may not appear on iPhones until 2025

It seemed like a dream to have an iPhone without a notch set for the next year, which is when an Apple analyst predicted that we would have all the components needed to move the Face ID device under the screen. Now a leaker says we may have to wait until 2025.

The flagship line of iPhone flagships relies on a set of sensors, including an infrared camera and an infrared viewfinder, that work in concert with the front-facing camera located under the iPhone’s notch to enable Face ID. One leaker noted that “Face ID has been pushed under the screen for at least a year until 2025 or beyond.” Ross Young tweetedadding that sensor issues caused the delay.

Since Young didn’t say what those sensor issues are, it’s unclear what’s stopping Apple from putting everything under the display.

While iPhones haven’t gotten rid of the notch yet, Apple has been reducing the wide black band on the top of its premium phones in recent years. The iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max packed a new feature — Dynamic Island — that partially hid the notch area and reallocated it for use as a mini dashboard for media and apps.

the ZTE Axon 20 5G It was released in 2020 to become the first phone in the world with a front camera under the screen, but the selfies it took were disappointing. More premium Android phones are starting to use under-display cameras, including foldable ones Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 And Z fold 4as well RedMagic 7S Pro.

Apple did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
