Since the beginning , Season four of you It seemed to take us in a clear direction. It has been a complete redeeming personal journey. Joe Goldberg, baseball-hat-wearing stalker librarian, has never cut up another dead person—at least, one that died by his own hand—again. After multiple “heart setbacks,” he was on a new, less toxic path.
Then Season 4 pulled the rug out from under us. Season Four, Part Two, to be exact. It took a great time — you had to fulfill her commitment of 10 hours of Netflix — but season 4 weaved those tables. First, she gives Jo a chance, via a European vacation, to course-correct. He had a chance to be less problematic, to make up for his sordid history. But then Season 4 showed Joe — and us — the truth.
He is a killer and never will be a killer. Rhys Montrose—Tyler Durden’s alter ego, not a real Oxon writer physically—is Joe Goldberg. In a rather hilarious flashback revelation, we see what was really going on when Joe was having conversations with Reese. Really, Joe was muttering to himself while glancing sideways now and then. Sometimes at actual dinner parties with many people! Given that Joe usually disappears into long pauses in conversations (when he tells us in a voiceover what he really thinks of people), hallucinating Reese is the kind of plausible thing for Joe to do.

Leads to the crossroads of Joe. He can either reject Reese, which is a manifestation of his dark side, and continue trying not to drive knives into people’s chests. Or he could be true to himself and accept who he is. This doesn’t mean he can’t also do the right thing and help change the world – being in a power couple with rich heiress Kate Galvin provides plenty of resources. It only means that he may sometimes succumb to the urge to strangle, mutilate, assault and trap.
Credit to Joe, he chose the former option first. He jumps off the side of a bridge in an attempt to end Reese and his evil deeds. But then he got a second chance. He wakes up in the hospital after a miraculous rescue. Kate promises she can accept it all – both on Joe’s side and his – and makes an offer: she will help him stay “good” as long as he reciprocates and helps her stay “good”.
So it’s a slightly bona fide affair for Joe on his way to a possible fifth season. Overall, Season 4 has had its ups and downs, according to Roller Coaster Design. Before the sexy twists reached a tail end, the first part of Season 4 felt a little agonizingly long. That much screen time with Kate Galvin’s wealthy royal friends and colleagues was obscene enough. But this choice, this character’s decision to have Joe embrace his inner demon seems – perversely – to be a wise one. Makes the trip worth it.
Joe does not go down Killed Eve Villanelle The way, for example, is that of another psychotic killer growing conscience, who loses her fun, intriguing flair in the name of love. Instead, Joe lands in his true form. Yeah, maybe her attractive killer boyfriend shouldn’t be on the internet. But at least we don’t have to try to forgive someone who murdered a bunch of young women. Perhaps Season 5 will see Joe perfect his killing instinct and use it only on the Dexter-style he deserves.
