Spring has spread. Baseball is in full swing, tax day is behind us and we’re halfway through Apple usually announcing new iPhone models. This past September, we got iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max. Apple’s finest jewels presented the most coveted idea Dynamic IslandAnd Updated camerasAnd A16 Bionic processor and a The new deep purple color.
regular iPhone 14 And 14 plus It also launched alongside the new Pro models, with the Plus occupying the slot previously occupied by the iPhone 13 Mini. For this check-in, I’m only focusing on the Pro models, since Apple has drawn a solid line in the iPhone 14 series between Pro and non-Pro models for the first time in years. Basically normal models iPhone 13 With some modest hardware improvements.
Apple’s new iPhones were launched seven months ago, but a lot has changed since then. Most of the major iOS 16 features that came out in September are finally here, like Apple Pay Later, Live Activity, and SOS emergency via satellite. Google and Samsung also launched their competitors Phone 14 Pro, and Pixel 7 Pro And Galaxy S23 Ultra. And the regular iPhone 14 and 14 Plus got a level New yellow paint job.

iOS 16 on iPhone 14 Pro
In general, I am happy with the iPhone 14 Pro as well Tim Cook sees someone with a Macintosh SE at the new Apple Store in Mumbai. Apple’s iOS 16 software is the biggest thing that’s changed on the iPhone 14 Pro since its launch in September. iOS 16 is what sets the iPhone 14 series apart. Yes, iOS 16 is available on older phones, but it shines on the iPhone 14 Pro because of the seamless way features work together, like the always-on display, lock screen, and dynamic island.
In December, Apple added the ability to Always turn off wallpaper And it made the screen go black, which was transformative. I’ve always found the dynamic island useful, but the relatively new live activities support makes it even more intuitive and useful. Live Activities is a widget that displays ongoing app activity (such as the score of a basketball game or the status of your Uber ride) on the lock screen, the always-on screen, and the dynamic island.
Overall, Dynamic Island is like having a shortcut at the top of your screen no matter what you’re doing on your iPhone. Glancing at my Uber ride status from my lock screen or on Dynamic Island makes sense.
The dynamic island displays different small icons and animations. During a FaceTime call, the green camera icon appears on the left side.

I want more of Dynamic Island, especially if there are features people can customize for their iPhone. In 2016, Apple introduced a version iMessage App Store for stickers and games with iOS 10. I don’t think we need a Dynamic Island app store, but something that could make it feel more personal like the ability to pin a Memoji sticker as a dynamic island icon. But for Dynamic Island to really take off, both the Pro and non-Pro models in the next generation iPhone need it. This should motivate more applications to take advantage of it, as well as more features to be developed. Fortunately , iPhone 15 rumors Indicates that all models will get Dynamic Island.
But the iPhone 14 Pro and iOS 16 weren’t without bugs. And I’m not talking about Detection of car collisions while riding a roller coaster or by skaters, although it does happen. And I should be clear that Car Crash Detection, even with Apple’s bug fixing, is actually one of the most important additions. I’m glad Apple included the tool in all iPhone 14 models because of that He really helped save people’s lives.
iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max Get the biggest changes to Apple’s lineup
In my seven months there have been times when the 14 Pro has frozen for a second or two. No matter how I tap on the screen, it was unresponsive. look at me Discussion forums on the Apple website, I’m not alone. A restart usually restores everything in order. And I should note that the problem wasn’t recurring and seemed to have resolved itself – it was probably through an iOS update.
I suffered too Weather app error The app only shows the name of the city and the predictions are blank. As a loyal Dark Sky user for years who was forced to abandon the app in January, this pissed me off. Has it been fixed since then? It seems so.

In addition to iOS 16, the iPhone 14 Pro is also where Apple shows off its camera prowess. In general, the photos are very good, and sometimes even excellent. I find the 14 Pro pushes the shadows and highlights too far, giving some photos a flat look. Contrast isn’t a bad thing, Apple. I often find myself editing photos after I take them, but maybe I need to credit a file Photography mode in the Camera app. Below are several photos I took with the iPhone 14 Pro.

Video has always been an area where the iPhone is one step ahead of the competition in terms of image quality. But with the Galaxy S23 Ultra, Samsung seems to have finally caught up. But of all the phones I have access to as a reviewer, the iPhone 14 Pro remains my favorite media-making device.
Something I hope to see on the next iPhone are improvements to the Camera app. It’s packed with tools and features, some of which require you to know where to swipe to find it. Others are buried in the maze of menu known as the Settings app.
iPhone 14 Pro battery and final thoughts
As I explained in my Three months of registrationThe iPhone 14 Pro’s battery life is good, but it’s definitely a step down from the iPhone 13 Pro. The same goes for the iPhone 14 Pro Max, which used to be my favourite. The 14 Pro Max’s larger battery powers you all day on a single charge even with heavy use. My average screen time is about seven and a half hours, which is pretty good.
in the end of the day, iPhone 14 Pro is the best from Apple. And if you’re thinking of getting one, it’s still a good time to buy, but know that iPhone 15 rumored The series is likely to be released in September.
