Google is emphasizing Wear OS 4 along with new Gmail, Calendar, and Backup features

Google’s Wear OS 3 gets new features from Google itself along with third-party apps and — later this year — a major update to Wear OS 4. It was announced Wednesday during Google I/OThe watch’s operating system will get more integration with Google services like Gmail, Calendar, and Google Home. Many of these improvements, which include battery life improvements, will be coming to Wear OS 3 watches like Google Watches pixel clock and the Samsung Galaxy watch series.

The updated Google Home app will allow you to remotely unlock your door and check for Nest doorbell notifications. Watch OS updates to Gmail and Calendar will add quick replies to emails as well as access to schedules, RSVPs for events, and the ability to update task status from the watch.

Third-party apps are also part of the Google Wear OS announcements, as chat service WhatsApp plans to release its first native watch app on the OS. Wear OS app from WhatsApp – Currently in beta – Plans to include text messages along with voice calls directly from your Wear OS watch. Google also announced that Spotify and Peloton will include watch tiles in their Wear OS apps, both of which will provide faster access to music playlists and workout details respectively.

When Wear OS 4 becomes available later this year, Google says the software will bring improvements to battery life, a faster text-to-speech experience and backup support. This last feature will make it easy to transfer data and settings from an old watch to a new one, much like Google’s existing Android phone setup process.

Wear OS ads come as Keynote speech at Google I/O It takes a big focus on AI ads. These include PaLM Language Model 2And An AI-powered version of Google’s search engine and the Public release of the Bard AI chatbot.
