With the release of tvOS 16.5, Apple added Multiview support for all Apple TV 4K running players. While some Apple TV apps previously had basic picture-in-picture support, Multiview is designed specifically for watching sports. You can use it whenever two or more live sports streams are running on Apple TV+ simultaneously to watch them all on the same show.
Here’s how to use the Multiview feature.
Open a live sports stream on Apple TV+.
On the broadcast control bar, click the square icon with a grid inside.
The current broadcast will shrink to the top of the screen, while icons for other ongoing streams will appear below it.
Select a stream icon to start it in a smaller window next to the main view.
Use your navigation buttons to move between views. Whichever is highlighted will have its sound played.
Swipe down to continue adding more streams to your window.
Use the icons above the broadcast icons to switch between asymmetric view or balanced side-by-side view.
To move a window to a different part of the view, press and hold the confirmation button on the remote control until the screen dims, then use the directional buttons to move it.
To remove a stream from the screen, just tap its broadcast icon on the bottom bar again.
You can have up to four sports streams running at the same time on your screen with Multiview – hopefully you can keep your devotees up to speed on their favorite matches.
