“Customer interest in the XLT has vastly outpaced supply since the launch of the F-150 Lightning and we’ve been working with our suppliers to help address that. By Ford’s calculations, the increased production would triple Lightning’s annual production to 150,000 trucks a year.
This year, Ford has doubled (or tripled) production of electric vehicles. It already has plans for a new generation of electric vehicles Following the current Mach-E and Lightning Mustangs, it has begun work on a new EV-focused production facility in Tennessee. Additionally, the company has deals with EV stalwart Tesla for its newly produced vehicles to have hardware to take advantage of Tesla’s massive Supercharger network.
