Google’s Next Pixel Phone Tensor Chip Leaked

Android Authority It indicates that the demanding tasks of the Tensor G3 will be handled by a set of four Cortex A715 cores with a clock speed of 2.45 GHz. This is a huge improvement over the Cortex-A78 core deployed by Tensor G2, both in terms of raw firepower – now twice the size – and higher clock frequency.

The number of efficiency cores is the same at four, but the older Cortex-A55 cores have been replaced in favor of the new Cortex-A510 cores. The new lower Arm cores also get a speed boost, going up from a Cortex-A55 peak frequency of 1.8GHz to 2.15GHz on a Cortex-A510 inside a Tensor G3 package. Google is also revamping things in the graphics department.

The upcoming Tensor silicon uses the Mali-G715 graphics engine, which has 10 GPU cores with a higher frequency of 890MHz. Support for broader video encoding and decoding capabilities (8K video at 30fps and 4K video at 60fps) will also be coming to the Pixel 8 series of Tensor G3 SoC phones.

Google’s Tensor chips, while offering smooth performance on its Pixel phones, fell behind when compared to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chips and Apple’s A-series silicon for iPhones. It will be interesting to see if the Tensor G3 finally allows Pixel 8 series phones to keep up with the big hitters from Samsung and Apple this year.
