Splendid Spoon is one of several healthy meal deliveries that have popped up in the past decade. daily harvest It’s a similar service, but that company requires you to quickly cook frozen ingredients or blend smoothies with water, milk, or nut milks. Splendid Spoon food is truly ready to eat: just put the top on a smoothie or heat up soups and bowls for a few minutes and your breakfast or lunch is ready.
While some meal delivery is suitable for dinner, this meal delivery subscription seems to be more suitable for breakfast and lunch. I tried amazing meals for a week. While it’s not my top pick in Healthy food delivery categoryThere’s a real appeal to eating breakfast when you wake up or having lunch sitting there when the clock strikes noon.
Here’s how Splendid Spoon works and what I thought of the healthy vegan meal delivery service.
My bright and colorful delivery of great bowls and drinks.

How does Splendid Spoon work?
As with other meal delivery services, Splendid Spoon is a subscription service. This means that you will choose a plan and the same delivery will continue every week unless you pause or cancel it (which you can do at any time). You can choose from a list of meals each week or keep the same things coming. You can choose from three plans with as few as seven meals and up to 21 meals. And the more meals you choose per week, the cheaper it will be with the 21-meal plan that costs about $9 a meal. Shipping is free if you choose 14 or 21 servings, otherwise you’ll pay $13 per box.
Splendid Spoon offers three basic plans.

After selecting your plan, you’ll choose your meals, choosing smoothies, grain bowls, soups, and pasta dishes depending on what’s included in your subscription. Meals are delivered to you chilled – not frozen – every Wednesday or Friday. For Wednesday delivery, you must place your order by 1pm Pacific Time on Thursday. For Friday deliveries, the deadline is 1pm PST on Sunday. As of now, Splendid Spoon delivers to the lower 48 states in the US.
Splendid Spoon has some great smoothie recipes. Some work better than others.
David Watsky/CNET
On any given week menu, you’ll have about 65 meals to choose from, including more than 20 smoothies with sweet options like blueberry and coconut and some savory mixes like carrot, ginger, and energy greens. There are also a dozen or so grain and rice dishes and about 20 soups along with rice and noodle bowls.
What are Splendid Spoon Meals?
All foods are 100% vegan (containing no meat, dairy, or animal derivatives) and gluten-free. The recipes are made with lots of healthy fruits and vegetables superfoods Such as kale, spinach, beans and whole grains. The website says about 95% of the food is organic and 100% GMO-free.
There’s no shortage of interesting smoothie flavors to choose from, many of which are packed with superfoods like almond butter, kale, and goji berries.

Much of the food is what I would classify as healthy food with quite a bit of global culinary influence. Think brown rice taco bowl with beans and tomato salsa or cauliflower tikka masala soup. You won’t find many meat alternatives that contain soy; These are mostly complete ingredients. The portions are not huge but they are not low in fat either, in keeping with the idea of healthy eating.
Before choosing any item, see the full ingredients list and nutritional information. You can also filter by more specific dietary needs, such as high-fiber, low-carb, and high-protein foods.
My Spendid Spoon dishes were a little hit or miss but most of them made for a light lunch or dinner.

What you ate and how you liked it
I’ll preface my critique of Splendid Spoon juices by saying that I make a lot of smoothies at home and therefore can be special. Because Splendid Spoon Smoothies are pre-blended, they are more like smoothies and don’t have that creamy frozen texture you’re used to. In addition to the main ingredients, each one is fortified with healthy superfoods like chia seeds, hemp seeds, and pea protein. These additions do not drastically change the flavor but provide nutrient dense and antioxidant content.
Strawberry and Goji Berry with Cashew Butter: This was good, a bit too sour for my taste.
Carrot and Ginger with Mango and Dates: An excellent smoothie with sweet and savory elements in perfect harmony. There are no reviews.
The carrot and ginger juice was some of the best I’ve tried.

Power Greens: This green smoothie is packed with good stuff, including organic hemp seeds, chia seeds, spirulina, pea protein, and kale. The banana and coconut balanced all the vegetable ingredients with just enough sweetness and not too much.
Bananas, Flax, and Almonds: I make a nut butter and banana smoothie most mornings. This was different and the lemon gave it a bright zing but I still prefer my freshly blended version.
Blueberry and Coconut with Acai and Cinnamon: Another very good smoothie. Cinnamon and vanilla made her sing.
Spiced Lentil and Chickpea Soup: Solid, but not terribly flavorful for a soup that bills itself as “spiced.”
Curry lentil soup was good. It was even better when I added some crumbled feta cheese.
David Watsky/CNET
Kale Pesto Noodles With Roasted Tomatoes: A delicious vegan pesto over al dente noodles. Very tasty meal.
Dan Dan Noodles with Bok Choy and Pepper: This noodle dish was full of Sichuan flavors and had a good heat. The noodles were chewy, not mushy, just the way I like them.
Coconut Curry Rice Bowl with Kale, Chickpeas, and Cashews: This was delicious and filling. Familiar flavor combination.
Fennel Consomme with Dill: The bright fennel was overpowering and was the only thing I could taste. I didn’t enjoy this much.
I found fennel bland and a little boring.
David Watsky/CNET
Wellness shots: My order came with five free health shots. I particularly liked the watermelon, beet, and ginger “freshness” dose, but it all tasted delicious and went down so smoothly.
How do I prepare my amazing meals?
Beverages come completely ready to drink. It’s also a good idea to put it in the fridge if you need more time to get over it. Soups and bowls can be microwaved, but I suggest gently reheating them in a saucepan or nonstick skillet. This method always results in more even heating and reduces the possibility of food being overcooked.
The brown rice curry with kale and chickpeas was missing something.

Who is the Splendid Spoon app good for?
Because the food is truly ready-to-eat, the Splendid Spoon is perfect for anyone looking to cut cooking—or even mixing—out of the equation entirely for a few meals a week.
The food is vegan and gluten-free, so it’s a good choice for anyone sticking to these diets. The portions aren’t huge, so if you’re trying to cut your total calories per week, a meal delivery service might help. Very cool spoon Omnibus 30Friendly if you’re looking to eat less processed foods and meals with more natural ingredients.
This is also a good option for the regular juice drinker who is looking to mix up their own recipes and flavors but doesn’t feel like shopping around for all the ingredients to make their own.
Splendid Spoon usually has great discount for new customer. You should definitely take advantage of it.

Who is Splendid Spoon not good at?
If you have a juicing routine that you follow to science, Splendid Spoon smoothies might feel like a slight dip. Yes, you will taste new recipes and interesting flavor combinations but they are more like smoothies in texture.
Since the food is completely vegetarian, this is not a good choice for anyone who craves meat for breakfast and lunch or other high-protein foods like eggs. Since a lot of smoothies contain fruit (sugar) and bowls contain grains, beans, and pasta, this is not an ideal meal for anyone sticking to a low-carb or keto plan either.
How much does a fancy spoon cost?
For plans with 14 or 21 meals per week, meal grids come out to about $9 per meal. This seems like a good deal for rice and noodle bowls but is pretty steep for a smoothie or a single serving of soup. If you only choose seven meals a week, you’ll pay $13 per meal and another $13 for shipping, which is definitely not a good value.
Splendid Spoon’s pricing is on par with competitors from plants like daily harvest And Mosaic Food But, for what it’s worth, I liked those two services better.
Splendid Spoon has some of the most environmentally friendly meal delivery service packaging I’ve tried.
David Watsky/CNET
Packaging and environmental friendliness
All drinks, soups and bowls are packaged in recyclable plastic. Splendid Spoon also uses dry ice instead of ice packs, which are rarely fully recyclable. The cooler box is also made of recyclable materials. Pound for pound, this is one of the most environmentally friendly meal delivery services I’ve tested. The bowl containers are also very reusable, with airtight lids and sturdy plastic. It may not survive a hot dishwasher but it sure is fine for a few hand washes.
Final verdict on Splendid Spoon
There’s something to be said for having fully prepared lunches and dinners when you need them. Splendid Spoon offers more than 50 or so healthy vegan meal options. While most of them were very tasty, they weren’t terribly exciting.
If you don’t mind preparing your juice for a few minutes, I might recommend that daily harvestWhich sends all ingredients cubed, frozen and ready to be mixed with milk. If you’re looking for just soups and bowls, Splendid Spoon has a selection of light lunches or dinners to choose from each week. They arrive fresh and ready to eat or pop into the freezer, saving you valuable time during the morning and afternoon.
And for larger eaters looking for complete meals more suitable for dinner, there are even better vegan services out there. Mosaic Food It’s my first choice that offers more interesting food for the same total price per serving.
