It’s a bit frustrating to think of how many of our once-loved devices are now pretty much outdated. For example, millions fell behind the good old CD and DVD players with the advent of streaming services leaving a huge dent in the concept of physical media. However, a reliable printer is still a valuable commodity.

Industry giant Canon is one of the largest manufacturers of these office staples. An essential part of its success, of course, is the adaptation of the product to the market and customer requirements, ensuring comfort and ease of use. In the case of the printer specifically, being able to connect to the device via WiFi is a huge boon for avoiding the hassle of cables or fiddling with a USB port.

Fortunately, many Canon models make this process easy. Here’s how to do this on some of the manufacturer’s most popular models, and how to adapt the process depending on whether you’re using a Mac or PC.

Canon Pixma TS702 Wireless Printer (The PIXMA line remains a standout in its field), as the title suggests, wireless. WiFi connectivity, as such, is essential to use, as are mobile devices for their scanner function. It’s fortunate, then, that the manufacturer has ensured that the process of connecting them is rather simple. Here’s how to do it on the TS702:

Open the setup menu by pressing Setup on the front of the unit.

Scroll to Wi-Fi setting, confirm, and choose Manual connection.

Choose the router you wish to connect to from the router selection menu and confirm again.

On the next screen, enter the password for the chosen router. After briefly pressing the button to confirm for the third time, a message will appear on the screen, Do you want to apply?

Choose to apply the settings you selected.

If your TS702’s screen now has those icon bars showing the connection, you’ve succeeded.

Canon He adds that according to the needs of the wireless model, the software that uses the device must be installed on the device used with it.

The Canon TS6220 also offers a functionality that the manufacturer considers Easy Wireless Connect. Here’s how to use it:

Press the button marked with the symbol of two squiggly paper clips, and select Yes when prompted “The settings will be made on a computer, smartphone, etc.”

As before, run the associated software, depending on whether the printer will be controlled via a PC or Mac. Associated software is available at Canon support page.

Canon PIXMA E484, 494 and 495 models can be connected using This is a feature Canon calls Cableless Setup. To do this, the process is similar to that of the Pixma TS702:

Confirm your selection of Other setup, followed by Cableless setup from the next screen.

As before, the appropriate software will be required for the device that will control the printer. Canon consumer product support The page provides the software for these three models for Windows users.

As is the case with manufacturers, the instructions for connecting a Canon printer to WiFi don’t differ much from model to model. The process has improved somewhat over time, though (the product support page for these models mentions CD-ROM installation of the software, a function many PCs don’t have access to), so it’s crucial to reach for proper help to troubleshoot things as they go awry. to this end, Canon Support offers a ‘select your product’ search box that allows users to find documentation for the respective model. There are tips that can be helpful all printers (if they are running slowly, for example), Also, though.
