According to a Carfax report, Death Row gave the car away in 2002 to a series of new owners who’ve racked up nearly 120,000 miles over the years. In 2017, the 750iL was acquired by a company called Celebrity Cars in Las Vegas who, unlike previous owners, aims to capitalize on the car’s horrific past.
Shortly after Celebrity Cars purchased the seventh series, it appeared in an episode of the reality programme Pawn stars, in which pawn shop owner and owner Chumley Rick Harrison was offered for $1.5 million. Collector experts who examined the car for Pawn Stars had differing opinions on the value, but none could justify the $1.5 million asking price.
Now, nearly six years later, the infamous Series 7 is still for sale at the same dealership for a current price of $1.75 million. Car enthusiasts and Tupac enthusiasts alike have opinions as to why the car has not been sold.
Many believe that once the bullet holes were repaired and the car was driven regularly again, the connection to the murder became unclear. Many of the celebrity cars that fetched high prices were also enjoyed under much happier circumstances. Perhaps the big factor in the room is that the asking price is too high, which may be by design to generate publicity in the agency.
If you have close to $2 million to spend on a well used car, know that at least the Tupac 7 series has a clean title and has never been involved in an accident. Well, not that kind of accident, anyway.
