Microsoft’s AI-powered Bing File And cool google I started testing the newest type of AI technology, the large language models which have crammed a huge wow factor into them OpenAI’s ChatGPT. But Brave, a much smaller player, on Thursday added some of those language processing capabilities directly to its web browser with a feature that summarizes search results.
feature, called The summary generates some brief explanations for questions in some search results, combining this with links in the footnotes to sources of information. It is also designed to present the richer text snippets that you see in regular search results.
It’s a fresh example of the overhaul sweeping the search engine business. Over the years Google has been adding more direct answers to search queries, showing maps, opening hours, song lyrics, and product recommendations alongside traditional links to other people’s websites. The AI revolution takes this tool to a new level, for example with New AI search results from Bing And Sometimes fraught with conversational abilities.
Large language models such as those running ChatGPT are trained to recognize patterns from vast swaths of text from the Internet. They can deliver impressive results, synthesize coherent sentences and even write articles on an enormous variety of topics. but LLM AI doesn’t really know anything And their authoritative tone may be misleading. Brave, which built its own LLM for Summarizer, offered warnings about its use.
“It’s crucial to remind users that one shouldn’t believe everything an AI system produces, in the same way one shouldn’t believe everything that is posted on the web,” Brave said of the Summarizer. “At the risk of stating the obvious, we should not attach critical thinking to anything we consume, no matter how impressive the results of AI models may be.”
In my testing, it provided useful results for some queries – for example, “What is pixel grouping?” and “What do the numbers on the sidewalls of the tires mean?” But he also struggled to deal coherently with the time elements of current-event questions like, “What happened to the Chinese spy balloon?” and “Will the EU approve Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision?”
Brave offers a Feedback button for feedback on its Summarizer results, and the feature can be disabled in Settings.

Brave is an unusual example of an independent browser company that has carved out a niche for itself despite the dominance of Google Chrome and, to a lesser extent, Apple Safari. The company is based on Chromium, a Google-led software project that powers Chrome, but has built its own search engine and ad system.
Brave gained a foothold in the browser market by stripping ads and tracking technology from websites by default, and substituting privacy-first advertising technology as an alternative. About 57 million people now use the browser each month, and the company-built search engine for the browser now generates 22 million queries per day.
The summary is now available on desktop and mobile browsers.
